I had to upgrade to XP and now my wheel mice (I have two) won't scroll. I tried downloading new drivers and that didn't help. And ideas?

Hey that might be an easy fix. It is not the driver, but a setting. If you go to the device manager and then go to mice and other pointer devices, there should be a ps/2 compatible mouse and then go to properties. there is a advanced setting go to wheel detection and make sure that assume wheel is present. that should do the job.

Oh yeah you might have to reboot to make sure that the wheel mouse work.
Tried that already. I have tried tweaking settings all over the place and nothing happens.
Hiya

Whats the name and version of your mouse? Never really heard of mice being incompatable, but you can never be sure thses days.

Does it have any other buttons on it, and if so, do they work?

Have you had a look in Mouse via Control Panel?

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse on one side and a Trekker Wheel mouse on the other. (I use two mice to save my elbows)

The buttons work and they both have a wheel in the middle. I've played with the settings in control panel and they SHOULD work, but for some reason they don't.

I've downloaded new drivers and I get a setup sreen but after rebooting nothing has changed.
Hiya

Don't know if you're still getting this problem, but if you are, have you had a look in Control Panel | System. Device Manager, under Mouse.

Are both listed, and if so, do they have any yellow !

You could try removing them by rightclicking on the mice and selecting Uninstall.

Then, turn off your PC, and reboot, let Microsoft pick up the drivers and see if that helps. As it was an upgrade, the drivers should still be available.

No, no yellow triangles. I tried deleting and reinstalling but still nada.:(
Hiya

Have you tried a different mouse? I know this will be very rare in two mice going at the same time, but can't figure this one out.

The default XP mouse drivers work very well with a scroll wheel. Maybe it is as Eddie suggested they got damaged. Did you plug or unplug them with the PC powered on? It can damage them. As a test try going into Safe Mode and delete all mouse devices in Device Manager, reboot, and then re-test. Good luck.
