Just tried to run by Norton's 2001 virus scanner. It froze up the
computer.Had to reboot. Gets to 33% and freezes or runs very slow.Never had this problem before. Also have the Cleaner,I ran it.
It took almost 20 minutes to scan.Usually takes 9 min or less.
What's going on? All suggestions appreciated.

Everything else running slow too?
If so,...try uninstalling the last program you put in,...
If not,...try reinstalling Norton...

Thanks for your reply. I ran Norton's again, this time letting it scan
just folders which it did normally until,I scanned the Windows
folder. Then it slow way down taking 30 or so minutes trying to get thru Windows\ javapackage SDBH7DZ5.ZIP\COM\MS\WFC\AX
and similar files before I stopped it.I have uninstalled Norton's at the moment. Still trying to figure out what the problem might be.

You might want to check the Symantec site
for upgrades to that product. I heard many
gripes about it when it first came out.

They may have a patch to fix it.

I agree with all of you but sounds like his cache is full also.......

Go to start/settings/Internet Options/ click on "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

Also I highly recommend you go to

http:www.lavasoftusa.com

Download & use the "deep probe" mode for Ad-Awares spyware searcn. Delete all that it finds.

Then run Nortons again

hope this works

Thanks for all the suggestion's. Here is what we have done so far.
Uninstalled Norton's;ran scan disk and defrag,nothing unusual;All
cache, all ways cleared along with temp internet files.I did download the spyware program and it found 3 questionabe entrys, all deleted. Next we will run the Cleaner again and gauge how long it takes. Also considering a new virus scanner. The only
new software that I have downloaded was Adobe version 5, but I
thought I had run Norton's after that with no problem. That is still
something to look at.

If you're looking for a new virus scanner thats free & good I recommend AVG...by Grisoft.

http://www.grisoft.com

It covers the boot sector & outlook express as well.

It saved me from infected e-mail a couple of times this past season.

twice today to download but quits after a period of time , will try
when the traffic is thinner tonite late. I ran the Cleaner and it did fine without any slowdown
