Does it ask for specific files during installation? If so, search for them---they may already be on your system.

Then I guess you need a CD. Did a CD come with the cam? It would seem that that would be all that was necessary.

There should be some method of recovering should you have problems. If you don't have an XP CD, maybe you have recovery CD's or a hidden partition containing the needed files. Contact the cam maker or the PC manufacturer to find out what you need to do in your specific case.

Is "d:/messeng" the exact file it is looking for? I don't see any file called that as part of XP's source files.

Sometimes vendors will keep the XP source files in a c:\i386 directory.

But for the future, it is a good idea to have a XP CD. You might contact the vendor of your computer to see if they have one available.
