Hello. The other day i was on my computer playing world of warcraft and all of a sudden i disconnect. I tried using the web browser to see if the internet worked and the web browser worked, but when i tried to connect to WoW, Ventrillo, Utorrent, Warcraft 3 and some other things, they would not let me connect also gaming websites such as pogo.com would not let me play the games, giving me an error connecting to server. I did have the ports forwarded and everything. I tried reseting my router and still nothing, I would greatly apreciate some help. I have a Linksys WRT54GS v6, wireless and wired, router and all the computers on the network started having this problem, i have all the firewalls turned off. Again, Iwould greatly aprreciate some help.

I would check to see if you have any software-based firewalls installed, such as Norton, Zone Alarm, Mcafee, etc....

You don't necessarily want to turn off the firewall, you just want to configure it to allow traffic from your other programs to access the internet. I haven't used norton in a long time, but you can check the help section to find how to configure it; or someone here will be able to provide a walk-through.

I temporarily turned off norton and still no dice, so i do not think it is norton, another thing is that the lights on my router ( numbered 1,2,3,4) stay lit even though the the other computers are off.

Try unplugging your router for 30 secs or so, then plug it back in. Give it a minute or so to "boot up". Are the 1,2,3,4 lights still on? What type of router do you have?

First of all, the lights on on the router is not a reliable evaluation. Some computers that can be activated via a network will always keep the network card powered up. Try unplugging the cable.

From your comments, it seems that all ports are blocked except port 80.

First, make sure nothing is in your hosts table (possibly inserted by a virus or ad-ware). Update and scan with Ad-Aware, and Spybot S&D. Also update and run SpywareBlaster.

Reboot, and attempt to connect. Norton is famous for blocking what it thinks are unauthorized packets, but it generally doesn't block when you initiate the connection.

Courtney sends.....
