My Vista laptop has always connected the home network without a problem. Suddenly it cannot see any of the other computers. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling network cards, checking all the networking settings, etc. I even went to an earlier restore point.

I did a search on this website and tried to follow these directions:

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL - select all and enter

However, it just rapidly scrolled the cmd box and closed.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do those commands the proper way. :)

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window, take the following actions.

Type the following two commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

"Suddenly it cannot see any of the other computers."

If "see" means ping by IP address the problem is firewalls on the other computer or a firewall (internet security) on your Vista. Or else you are now connecting to your neighbor's network.

No, I'm not connected to my neighbors - I actually tried wireless and ethernet cord. And I haven't changed the settings of two of the computers - just one. (total of three XPs and my one vista) I was able to see them all yesterday.
