I am trying to install Vista Business (which is the version that the Vista Upgrade Advisor suggested I install), and everything goes fine until it has to restart and then one of three things happens:
-it just hangs at the Windows splash screen
-it seems to make it past the screen, but only to the blue screen of death with the message "IRQL_EQUAL_OR_NOT_LESS"
-same blue screeen with error "BAD_POOL_CALLER"
I have read some posts where people have suggested making sure that Vista can write to the master boot record, but I don't know how to do that. I have also read to make sure that there is no or an approproate boot manager, and I don't know of that, either.
I should mention that I have XP Pro on both HDDs right now (with the intention of going with Vista on one of them). The one I'm installing to is F: Drive and not C:, though I don't know if that matters or why it should, since I clearly denote which one I want the OS on.
I have gotten a couple of other suggestions from the Vista Advisor, but it is for Vista compatible drivers for my monitor, sound card, and (ironically) Microsoft Messenger, but the advisor said this shouldn't affect install.
Any help would be great; this has been a chore.
