My microsoft track ball mouse sometimes plays up. It either stands still when it should be moving or goes slightly in the opposite direction, or takes a second to move. I have to restart the pc to clear the problem. Is it possible that a virus is the cause?
thanks andy

Try this first... Go to an empty place on your desktop & right click & select properties... then in properties select settings/advanced/Performance....then move the slide bar to the left one notch... click ok...
Let us know if it worked out ok... most times thats a sign you need RAM too... do you have a lot of programs in your startup?

I did that and only thing is i have to restart the pc for it to be applied which sorts it out anyway. So i'll restart and monitor it over next few sessions with those settings. Yes, i have far to many programmes at start up, and i am going to get more ram soon.
thanks , these things may sort it out.
