virus adware

i had this virus called adware and i ran norton and it found ten files. it was able to delete only five of them, then i tried to run in safe mode, after deleting the trayx file from the hijack this log, as i was told to do from the symantec website, and those files were not there anymore. i had also run spybot and adaware. now i would like to know if those files are still on my computer or if they are gone. also, when i go into msconfig, there is one file unchecked but i do not know why, and i am wondering what it is and how or if i should delete it, it is called carpserv.exe and found in software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

The only bad items in the Scanlog are these two, which can be checked and fixed:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0000607D-D204-42C7-8E46-216055BF9918} - (no file)

"carpserv.exe" is described below:

Program Name: CARPservice
Executable Name: carpserv.exe
Required: User's choice
Comments: Associated with Zoltrix modems - enables the internal modem speaker, allowing you to listen to the dial-up sounds for example
