Virtual Windows XP

I am trying to get an old game to run as it won't even let me install it under Windows 10. I followed the guide here:

And it works ok except for the mouse. Every time I move it into the virtual box it disappears. I don't know how to get it to focus so its only inside that environment. I am running on Windows 10 Pro 21H2.

I've messed around with the settings but nothing seems to work. And I have to navigate with keyboard only which is frustrating and janky af.
Is anyone that is more experienced with Virtual Machines able to tell me what the problem is?

Tried it. Mouse still doesn't show up. It was on USB Tablet. I changed it to USB Multi-touch Tablet. Still won't work.

edit: I got it working. But its a bit of a PITA. I pressed the host key combination (default Right Ctrl + Home key) and selected my mouse under USB devices. That locks the mouse to the VM. To get out I just de-select it. Fiddling around sometimes is the best solution lol!

edit again: Now I just need to make it run fullscreen. I found the option for that and I can switch to it but it doesn't actually make the desktop fullscreen. It stays small and there is lots of black space around it. How do I make it scale so its actually fullscreen?

One more edit: I am trying to copy files to the VM but I can't seem to figure out how to.
