Hi,

I have 2 ISPs (DSL and Sprint wireless broadband) and two ethernet cards in my computer. I am running Windows XP as both my main OS and as the Virtual PC's OS.

I would like for my Virtual PC to connect using only the DSL connection (without falling back to Sprint if the connection drops out) and my main OS to connect using only Sprint (without falling back to DSL if the connection drops).

I tried to disable one of the two ethernet cards in the main OS, but that causes the disabled ethernet card to also be disabled in the Virtual PC.

How can I do what I'm trying to do? Thanks in advance!

Why not just pick up a dual-WAN router and have both available for all connections? Is there some reason you're trying to do this?

You may be able to do this by changing the routing table, but truthfully I've never tried it.

Thanks for your response JohnWill.

I did not know that Dual-WAN routers existed. I am looking at some of them right now, but I cannot tell if they can do what I want.

There is indeed a reason I cannot have both internet connections available for all connections and why I cannot have a "failback" where if I get disconnected, it switches to the other ISP.

I have multiple accounts at some places that identify/authenticate by IP address, and so in order to log in twice at the same time, I must connect from two different IP addresses. I could use two separate PCs and only one internet connection for each PC, but that's no good for me because often, speed is of the essence - I must fill and submit web forms from one IP address and then from the other IP address as quickly as possible, and virtual PC makes this easy because all I have to do to access my second "computer" is to scroll my mouse into my virtual PC window. Accessing a second physical computer is a bit slower.

I also don't know anything about routing tables, but I will do my best to learn about them right now.

Let me know if you (or anyone else) has any other ideas. Thanks again!
