A message pops up every once in a while from my windows toolbar while Im editing in my Sony Vegas. It reads "Virtual memory minimum too low" and goes on to say that "windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file".

I have got this message about 6 times in the past month and am wondering how many times windows can increase the size of this file. Is there something I should do to help this?

How many Hard Drives do you have on that PC ?

How much memory do you have?

• Rightclick on my computer> Properties> Advanced tab
• click on Settings under Performance> Advanced tab
• click on Change
• Double the amount next to Initial Size and Maximum Size

I have to hardrives. One is external and has 320 gb. the other is internal and is much, much smaller!

VM increase, as done by the pc when pageing file nears its max, is only a temporary adjustment by the pc, and it re-sets itself to normal operating parameters later.

VM self-adjusts when the ram nears its' max, and page file nears ram x 4 (windows default setting).

How much memory do you have. To findout

Press the Windows Logo key + Pause Break key together
another screen will open.....and at the bottom you will see the amount of Ram

how small is it?

Go Start then My Computer then right click on the drive (usually C) choose Properties and it will tell you what size it is and how much space is left.

Are you sure that's a Windows message, and not something from the Sony Vegas application?

I have 256mb of ram and my C drive reads 37.2gb capacity with 17gb of those being free.

I would upgrade your Memory because 256mb of ram is low for using programs like that.
