i rendered just over 400 BMP files into an AVI using videomach and a DivX Pro 5.0.5 codec, but the quality didnt turn out well, so i re did it using Videomach's default Cinepak Codec by Radius. The picture quality was great, but the 14 second AVI had jumped from 2,335 KB to 51,370 KB, which makes no sense at all because i have great quality videos, minutes long, that are less than 100,000 KB. any help would be great.

The codec you use will determine the compression, and thus quality, of your final product. Also, AVIs are the larges movies you can make. Play around with compression settings for DIVX then play around with creating both AVIs and Mpegs....with a little research you can determine the best combination for your "slideshow".

PS: also play around with the size of your BMPs, you may find that making them smaller (again through experimentation) you can achieve high quality playback and minize the final movie size.
