Hi MotocrossMadguy, welcome to TSG.....

Find the driver disk for the video card and go to the control panel, system, device manager, display adapter, select the adapter, properties, driver and choose update drivers and point it to the driver disk.

And it won't let you right click on the desktop and change the colors? Are there any other choices there or just 16 and 1?

Look at the monitor settings as well.....if it shows up as default monitor, try to change it to the brand/model you have.....or look on the back of the monitor for some HZ specs and/or SVGA info.......

Just for fun, on the monitor, right click on the desktop, properties, settings, advanced, monitor, change, and select the monitor again.....hit ok all the way out, reboot......
