Usually you only have one choice. PCI express is the newest and better technology, and sometimes the cards actually cost less than AGP, but not in most cases.

SLI is a pci-x only technology.

By one choice is that most mobos are only AGP or PCIx, not both.

So, if you aren't buying a new mobo, and you only have an AGP slot, than you can only go AGP.

PCI cards are old, PCI-Xpress are new. AGP is getting old with the new technology PCI Express. Newer graphics cards coming out are now primarily for PCIX.

You should look in to a mobo with PCI-X technology.

Yah i just realised that, sorry bout that PCIe is pci express. my bad.
mobo= motherboard.

To see if your mobo is AGP or PCIe just use a program like everest home edition. On shopping sites like newegg in the title of the product it will say whether it is pcie or agp.

What do you mean how can I tell if my card is AGP or PCIe. Before buying you check the title, as for your motherboard, just check the manufacturer's website or use a program like everest home edition to give info on ur comp. You can also tell the difference just by loocking at your motherboard.

That makes sense, but why would we need another AGP now that we have PCIe. PCI won the race, they came out with better tech before AGP... Well, kinda. AGP had like 2x, 4x, now 8x. PCIe came out and PCI took the lead. Maybe the new AGP technology will be better for graphics, as AGP boasts. Any websites with news on this.

RedOctober, don't take into this, as the motherboards for the new AGP are probably going to be slightly expensive for being new, and no new tech agp cards are out yet.

Graphic Cards aren't that expensive unless your poor. mine was $300 radeonx800xt bought off of newegg.com but yu know... you have to check if your motherboard supports the graphics. The first thing you need to find out is if your bad boy can dish out enough power to support your little bad boy. next you need to know if your motherboard supports AGP or not. if it does then buy that version, if not get that graphics that supports PCI express capabilities. everything else is straight forward from installing to playing that game u wanted to play....
