I have an acer 5720 laptop with windows vista. It was always working fine. I stopped using it for about two months and when I tried to use it last time I couldn't use it at all because if does not go to the initial desktop page. After clicking the user icon I get the message USER PROFILE COULD NOT BE FOUND
I cannot log on as administrator because I lost the password and so I cannot even do a system restore because I am asked tio enter the administrator password snd as I said I forgot it.
If there is something that can be done I appreciate any information.

There are a number of ways to reset a Windows Administrator account's password. It is best to try to recall it as best as possible. Here is a link to a website regarding methods utilized to reset Windows Administrator account passwords.

You can also try using a password reset app from a CD/DVD or USB drive. More information can be found regarding this on the Internet.
Thanks for the link. Could I try to use the link information for my acer laptop with windows vista home premium 32 bit?.
Option 2 and option 3 can be considered for Windows Vista using Windows Vista specific instructions. A link that is more specific to Windows Vista is enclosed below.
