I have a client that is running windows 98 and she set up her dial up connection correctly and deleted her past accounts also ...but when she attempts to connect it will still say this device is used by something else ...any ideas?

Is it possible when she set up her modem it took resources in use by another device? Check in device manager, computer, properties, and check IRQ settings. Check modem, properties, and see if its resources can be changed.

Also if she has any auto answering programs set up, similar to Winfax, that will tie up the modem for dial out as well
