USB device not recognized, Windows 11 lenovo yoga

3090 Views 23 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Couriant
I used this mouse yesterday and it suddenly told me that the computer cant recognize the USB? I checked with my other laptop and the mouse works just fine, so it's a hardware issue. I tried follow up with youtube videos but they all seem to be of non-lenovo computers because they have options that I don't. Ive tried uninstalling drivers and restarting my computer. I bought a new mouse to see if that helps, it doesn't. Any tips?

Did you try all the USB ports ?
Ive been on chat with windows support and I let them have control of my screen for a long time and he said he tried everything that theres no reason it shouldnt be working, so he's having to escalate the support
Do the other USB ports work or are they all non-functional?

I only have 1 USB port like that one
Explain exactly what you mean by only 1 USB port "like that". I'm not there to see what type of USB port you are referring to that is different from the others.

There is only 1 usb port. The other ones are for the charger.

They can still be used as USB ports.

Please post the exact model of Lenovo Yoga you are using so I can see the hardware.

Lenovo Yoga c940 laptop, 2-in-1 laptop that turns into a tablet
Checking online that model has 1 USB 3.1 type A port and 2 USB type C ports, so if the mouse has a type A connector it will only fit in one of those ports.

Yea, thats what Im trying to say. And the usb port works because I can charge my phone through it, it just wont accept my mouse USB anymore for no reason. Ive been using the same usb port and mouse usb for 2 years.
If you reboot with mouse plugged in
does it work for a short time?
What anti virus are you using
Is the mose wired or wireless

Mouse doesnt work even after reinstalling windows 11. Mouse is wireless. I have windows security and PC health check as antivirus? Not sure which antivirus I have. It automatically checks if I have malware.
can you borrow a wired mouse to test.
Was you on windows 10 before
can you run this and paste results

If it is the USB A port, then the port is working. We'd need to concentrate on the mouse instead.

Please also post brand and model of old mouse and new mouse.
As a last resort, did you try a wired mouse just incase there is a problem between the wireless dongle and the mouse (like some interference) ?

I believe its a USB A port. I do have 2 usb C ports I believe though. I have not tried a wired mouse, not sure where to get one and my roommates dont have one.
Antivirus: Windows Defender,
I was looking to see if you had bitdenfnder as that can cause usb problems

Put the phone into your USB A port and tell us if it is seen and is charging.

Phone is charging, so the usb works. But not with a usb mouse, because it gives me the device malfunctioned error.
