hi everyone... my father is having major computer troubles (windows ME) and i guess he needs to uninstall the offending programs, but when he goes to start>settings>control panel he receives error message "29" (unspecified error; OK)... i tried restarting (in case this error was caused by insufficient memory) and also shut down all unnecessary programs before retrying, still the same thing happens. might i be able to access the control panel in SAFEMODE? if so, how? or would i have to do it in DOS? i have no clue how to do that - i really want to help him... thanks for reading!

Download Hijackthis.
Create a folder on your hard drive and save it there.
Unzip the file and extract it to the folder you have created.
Scan your machine, then click on Save Log.

Post a copy back here and someone will be happy to review it.

Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.
