I have a UPS battery back up. The power went out and so did the computer. Is there anything I am forgetting to do? This has happened with other UPS i have bought also. Not just this one.

Thanks,
Rio

It pays to check them by unplugging the supply to the UPS. The compute supplied from it should continue for about 5 minutes.

Also make sure it's not overloaded, or it will turn straight off.

What is the VA rating of it, and what equipment is it supplying?

I routinely pull the plug on my UPS systems, and they've never failed me unless something is wrong. The classic thing that goes wrong is the batteries, after 2-3 years, they bite the dust as a rule. I change the batteries once in a UPS, then buy a new one when the unit needs batteries again.

Many UPS's have a few plugs that run off battery and a few that don't. If you plug something into the non-battery side then it will shut off immediately.
