I have a computer with XPsp2 and would like to upgrade to XP pro. Does anyone have any reccomendations or should I just plug it in and let the chips fall where they may?
One more note, I do NOT have any OS disks except the XP Pro, that's why I want to change it.

THANKS ALL!!!!!!

I guess you have XP Home now? . . And your Pro edition is an Upgrade version?

Upgrades ( installing one Operating System on top of another ) seldom go well . . however, Home is so close to Pro that it should not cause any issues . .

For the best result, a clean install is reccomended.

Either way, be sure to back up any important data before letting chips fall . .

Thanks!
As I don't have any of the software from the computer as it was donated. How can I make sure I have all the drivers for the hardware when doing the clean install? Is there a way to get them before reformatting?

If it's from one of the major OEM's ( Dell . . HP . . . ) you can find drivers on their website. Otherwise, you can look in Device manager for the Video, Sound and LAN devices and download drivers for those. For the motherboard, you'll need to know the manufacturer and get drivers there.

Everest is good at identifying all that also:

You can gather the drivers and burn to cd or to a flash drive for use after the install;

This is a site that walks you thru a simulated XP installation:

If you need, these are good guides to reinstalling XP . . you might want to print one for reference during the install.
