I have a Biostar

GF8100 M2+ TE 6.x

on the specs page it shows :
  • Support Dual Channel DDR2 533/667/800/1066(1066 by AM2+ CPU) MHz
  • 2 x DDR2 DIMM Memory Slot
  • Max. Supports up to 8GB Memory
I tried running Crucials compatibility software but the best it gave me was a 4GB kit (2x 2GB sticks) I would like to use the full potential 8GB if possible.

Biostar GF8100 M2+ TE Version 6.x Motherboard
It has 2 DIMM slots and supports a maximum of 8 GB(4 GB X 2) of DDR2-800 RAM.

Is your computer running a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows operating system?
If it's running a 32-bit version, 4 GB is the most that will be used.

To get 8GB RAM on a pair of DDR2 RAM slots you'll need a pair of 4GB DDR2 RAM sticks,.

But lucky for you yours is an AMD-based one (AM2+ mobo) so you can go with the "cheap" way: Buy the AMD-only 4GB DDR2 RAM sticks in eBay.

I did some checking during my first post and noticed those "for AMD only" 4 GB DDR2 modules are a lot cheaper than the others. (y)

In fact I realized their existence two years ago when I was planning to upgrade my old Core 2 Duo rig (now having Xeon E5450, Gigabyte G41 chipset mobo with 2 DDR2 RAM slots) to 8GB RAM, did some research and concluded these AMD-only modules were true to their words. That means I'd have to buy the expensive ones which were priced as if they were made of gold, hell 4GB DDR2 SO-DIMM modules are cheaper

In the end I decided to "screw it" and went with 4GB RAM instead, and gave it to my little sister.
