Hey guys,

Ijust wanted your advice on an upgrade; I'm planning ;for my brother's computer. The goal is to get about two to three years left of decent gaming on a machine in desperate need of a RAM and video card upgrade. The main limiting factor I can think of is he's got an AGP slot.

What he's got now:
~2GB Processor speed
512 RAM
128MB 5600 Geforce

What I want to get him

2 1 GB RAM Sticks or should I get 2 512 MB RAM sticks for 1/2 the price
128MB GeForce 7600 GT; for 185 dollars

What do ya'll think? The goal is to drop about 300-500 (max) dollars to let him be able to game on his computer for a year or two more; ;before he's forced to get a new computer. (We're trying to hold off on him getting a new computer until he buys the one he'll buy for college. That's three years from now, since he's 15 now).

It's a stretch, but what do yall think?

Well get rid of the weak ling "AGP" Easily done.
Here is what I suggest. Much better and will be way "way" faster.
ABIT IP-95 Socket T (LGA 775) VIA P4M890 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Model #: IP-95

BFG Tech BFGR76256GTOCE GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6300 - Retail

Now you can use your old stick of ram with this mobo. it has 2x184 and 2x240
I don't know the brand/speed of your current ram so i didnt know what to suggest. always try to match same manufacturer and speed if possible. Or you can just by 2x512 DDR2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145526

With ram it would be $470 ish
Keep in mind though with a new mobo means new OS
