Hello i've got some upgrading questions. I have a recently bought Acer Aspire T135 and i've copied down some of the relevant system specs here:

CPU: AMD Sempron, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3300+

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)

Onboard Graphics Controller: VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP

Memory: Corsair VS512MB400 PC3200 (200 MHz) 512 MB

Now i've recently obtained about $240 From a summer job and christmas gifts(not all of my relatives have chimed in yet on the gifts so there might be more). I'm thinking to spend the money on a better video card and 1 GB of RAM so that i will have a total of 1.5 GB.

As for video card i'm thinking something from the Nvidia 6 or 7 series, maybe the 7600 GS?

Any Suggestions?

well that sounds pretty good but why go half way on the ram, go alway up to 2gb of ram. and as for Video Cards, AMD are great for Gaming so why surpress it to Nvidia. check out some products from ATI, i game with the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and its great, but when its time to upgrade im sticking with ATI, its proven performance. www.ati.com, another good upgrade would be maybe a better sound card and speaker set up, i suggest the Creative Sound Blaster Live 7.1. and maybe a 7.1 or 5.1 set up from Logitech or Creative or Dell.

Check out www.newegg.com www.tigerdirect.com and search on ebay for the best prices

Well the reason i'm only going up to 1.5 GB is that, as i said before: I am on a strict budget. And if you can fit 2 GB of RAM, a new video card, a new sound card and a set of speakers all on $250, then... well nevermind

I've found some stuff so far RAM and Graphics Card. I'm thinking of going for the Geforce 7600 GS instead of the Radeon X1650 PRO, i've seen alot more negative reviews for ATI products and most of the games i play and will be playing are made for Nvidia Cards.

PS rollnwink24 what do you have against Nvidia cards did you have a bad one?

I'm a huge NVidia guy and as for a great card for the money... the 7950 GT (or GT KO, or GT KO superclocked) are absolutely ridiculous cards for the money! If you compare them to most of the 7 or 8 series cards they're not far behind for about half the dough...
