will upgrading my W98SE laptop to WXP work? The laptop is a Dell inspiron 7500 pentium 3. I think the HD needs formatted, so if i am going to the trouble, why not upgrade if it'll work. i can upgrade ram to 512

I'd proceed cautiously on an upgrade like that. Since that machine shipped with W98SE, my guess is motherboard drivers for XP will probably not be available. I've had mixed results upgrading laptops from 98/ME to 2K/XP, principally because of driver issues.

Took some time to search for you. The XP drivers for a Inspiron 7500 pentium are available at Dell's web site. From the looks of things, most are included with XP anyway.
