Well as of now I have an E-Machines T3256
( http://compreviews.about.com/od/budgetdesk/gr/eMachinesT3256.htm )

I have 1GB of PC2700 Ram in it and an ATI Radeon x1300 256mb AGP video card.

I have about $400 dollars to spend and I really wanted to upgrade my processor to something that can handle games without lag. I'm not sure what my motherboard is compatible with and I don't think it's possible to switch out motherboards because of the other hardware on my computer (or is it?).

As of right now, I only see upgrading my processor to make any noticeable changes. Can anyone give me some advice about upgrading my processor (motherboard if needed), With a $400 dollar budget? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
