We just bought a Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H2 about a month ago and it has been great. We tried to down load our newest batch of photos and now it loads a few and then quits. We have had no previous problems with this camera or our other digital camera. The Camera and Scanner Wizard warning window pops up and says that the parameters are not set correctly. What? We have not downloaded or changed anything recently. ANyone got any ideas?

Thanks- BD Teacher

Welcome!

If you are using Windows XP, then do not use any software or Wizard to download the photos.

Simply look in Windows Explorer, the camera should show up as a removeable drive and allow opening of the appropriate folder, selecting and copying the images, then pasting to wherever you want on the PC.

Your error is not uncommon, though I suspect the exact wording differs regarding the parameter ("parameter is incorrect" may perhaps be the exact reported error). The cause could have many reasons, among them a bug in the software or that the camera is set to repeat the image file names and not increment them.

Exact error wording is important as it often leads to the solution quicker, as is the need to advise the version of Windows being used.

Hey kiwiguy,
Thanks for the reply. We are using XP and that was the exact message. Yes, I was frustrated too with how uninformative the message was that popped up. Now the messages are popping up that it can't import the files because it can't find the device (even though it is plugged in and recognized). I just removed the software that Sony sent me. Do I have to copy and paste every photo? Just wondering, as I am about 90% certain I understand the proceedures in your message. Thanks again for the info.

You can select the while lot in the camera's memory folder, then copy.
Then decide where you want to put them and paste.

Personally I believe all camera software should come with a "health warning", it is usually less than trouble free.

You might want to consider buying a USB card reader.
That is what I use, simply putting the camera card into it and copying the files from it.

I have 3 digital cameras and never connect any of them to the PC, or use their software.
