Can some one please help me with something that I suspect is quite easy to fix:
When I start the computer, I get a load of desktop icons (gambling, sex, etc), that I can't get rid of - they come back everytime I reboot!
Also, when I start IE I want to go to my preferred page, Google, but even though I program it to do that, evrytime I reboot it goes to some other page of adverts.
Please help, but remember, I am not particularly savvy, so keep it simple.
Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

It would be a good idea to post a Hijack This log for the experts to analyze.
Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. Save it to it’s own folder (not temporary files or the desktop).

Close all open windows and open HIJACK THIS. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the scan and advise.

Click here to download CWShredder. Close all browser windows,UnZip the file, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished restart your computer.

IMPORTANT!: To help prevent this from happening again, I strongly recommend you install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits.

The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs"

Come back here and post another Hijack This log and we'll get rid of what's left.

Thank you so much. I installed all the Windows stuff, and CWShredder has removed some things from my desktop, but some are still there. Here is the new Hijack log:
