I have just rebuilt my first system. The old hard drive died so I installed a new 20gig on the old system, loaded 98 and everything was fine. I then installed a new MOBO and processor but used the same cd-rom, floppy and video card. All are working fine except for the floppy. The light stays on and the drive initiates. It comes up as not accessible or cannot read. I've checked the cables and they can pretty much only connect one way. Any help or pointers would be helpful

If the light stays on all the time the cable is reversed on one end or another....maybe both. The red stripe on the cable is to orient it to pin one on the drive. 99% of the time that will be on the side where the power connector is on the drive side. The motherboard should be labled to show you where pin one is on the connector.
