I have uninstalled QuickTime, but I still get an error message in the middle of installing iTunes 7.02 stating that the old QuickTime could not be uninstalled. Quicktime no longer appears on the ADD/REMOVE page in the Control Panel.

Have you done a registry clean-up? Do you have software that will do that for you -- like V-com's SystemSuite 7 (which I use) or Norton SystemWorks (which is more popular, but which I hate)?

Try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove what is left of quicktime.
