Unbearable, unusable internet speed on just one machine

Hi ladies and gents,

I have two machines for work. A mac and a pc, in my home-office.

The Mac is running fine wirelessly (61.6 upload, 12.1 upload, which is fine for me)
The PC is hitting between 0.5 - 2.0 download and even lower upload speeds (unusable!)

The wifi adapter is the problem I think? I have tried:

  1. changing the wireless channel
  2. turning off QoS
  3. Troubleshooting
  4. checking for driver updates
  5. reinstalling the adapter
  6. Resetting my WiFi
  7. Resetting network settings
  8. Enabling adaptivity
(I think that covers every angle I've tried, I also tried the steps featured in this video:
)

Is the solution to buy a better wifi adapter? If so, any recommendations? :)

I need this fixed asap as I am a video editor and my work is suffering as a result.

THANK YOU!

I did, ethernet testing the speeds are great. It's a wireless problem,
Try this and change the DNS servers to Google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I've also tried this solution to no avail. Thanks for the tip though.

It did work well for about 6 months yes. Only in the last month has it become unusable.

The wireless adapter is an external USB I received with the PC when I bought this machine.

In network setting the adabpter is labeled:
"realtek 8811cu wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC"

^ I have suspected the adapter may be the problem. I have reinstalled it, checked for driver updates and reconfigured it by Enabling adaptivity and switching off QoS (all suggestions I have seen while searching for a solution)
Guys & Gals I fixed it.

By fixing it, I mean I bought a new adapter and it's hitting 80.98 download speeds! That's incredible for me.

For anyone interested the adapter is a "Maxesla USB Wifi Dongle for PC, High Speed 1200Mbps USB Wifi Adapter 802.11ac 5dBi Dual Band 2.4/5GHz USB Wifi Computer Internet Adapter for PC/Desktop/Tablet/Laptop, Compatible with Windows, Mac OS X"
I'm glad you found a Usb adapter that gives you that much speed.
