Two website - .co & .net, how to direct traffic to .co site

Hi there

My boss has two websites for his music side project - the older rudeaudio.net site and a newer rudeaudio.co one that has recently been created

He's not really interested in the older one however when you type in his music alias name into Google, rude audio, the .net takes priority. He would prefer traffic to be directed to rudeaudio.co

What would be the best way to go about this? Is it best to just delete or hide the .net site? would this get rid of it as a search result in Google?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Delete the old site and do a 301 redirect to the new site.
Many thanks for your response colinsp, I wonder if you can advise me further - my boss recieve an email from the domain notifying him that the old (.net) website will be deleted in 3 days if no payment is received, boss is happy for it to be deleted as he wants traffic on new .co site. Would i still be able to a 301 redirect if the domain deletes the site? And is applying the redirect a simple process I.e could a layman like me do it?

Appreciated

Lewin
No in simple terms once the .net domain is allowed to lapse any redirect would no longer be in force. You can delete the .net website files and then forward that domain to the co domain. How you do this redirect depends on what hosting that you have. Rather than me repeat information that is readily available just put 301 redirect into Google and there are many useful sites and blogposts to talk you through the process. Your webhost may even be prepared to do it for you. However do not let the .net domain lapse at the moment maybe in 12 months time but not now.
