Could use some help please. My internet download speeds are slow on my cable modem. All signals to the modem are in spec. Was advised to adjust "Receive Window". I don't know what that is and how to adjust it. Also was told to optimize the broadband. Does anyone know what I am needing to do? Thanks as usual for your suggestions.

windows does a pretty good job and unless you really know what you're doing, you'll have more problems than slow downloads.

what service are you paying for up/down or does the isp only have one plan.

who provides the internet service, are you providing the modem or do they?

what os, mfg of nic/network/ethernet card do you have?

I am on Adelphia cable using my own cablemodem, Motorola 5100. nic is a 3com etherlink xl 10/100 3c905b-tx. I don't have a extreme service but what I have is way below where it should be. I did a tweak test on dsl reports and it suggested I adjust the RWIN value. Mine now is 6432, it suggests I should have at least 14,600 to 37960 range. I can adjust that. I also backed up my system state just in case. Thanks for your response.

do they provide a modem or did you get your own?

i don't tweak any of my systems.

not much better than 3com, i've got the same one in one system, the rest are linksys, realtek, orinoco.
