Yes folks its time for that great American pasttime.... Fantasy baseball!!!

Anyone and everyone is welcome to sign up and play. This a fun league, and anyone that has played in any of the other TSG fantasy leagues know that its a great mix of competitive spirits, and helpful people lending advice to those that are new to sport of fantasy baseball.

BTW.... It looks like Mulder is playing so here's an opportunity for all you left wing Repubicrats...or is it right wing Demopublicans ;), to show em who's boss! :D

(sorry mulder every good advertisment needs a good pitch, and using you as bait seemed the best way to hook em :p )

Anyone that wants to sign up go here
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/joinprivateleague
the league ID# is: 331860
the password is: evilempire (all one word)

This years league is an autodraft league. Yahoo pre-ranks players for you, but it is recommended that you go ahead and create your 'rank' your favorite players.

The cutoff date for registering your team and 'ranking' your players is March 29th. March 30th is opening day so hurry up and register. :)

If anyone has any questions, needs help setting up their teams, or wants copies of my own draft guide please send me a PM.

How many players do we rank? There seems to be 26 automatically done, but here are options for 100. Can you explain what we need to do?

I guess this is the answer from Yahoo:

We recommend that all managers take advantage of our pre-rank feature. If you are signed up for a live draft, it is still a good idea to use this pre-rank feature as these rankings will be used to pick players if you cannot make it to part or all of your draft.
When you do rank, it is important to remember that you do not want to rank players position by position. If you were to do this (e.g., all first basemen, then all shortstops, etc.), you will end up filling your starting roster and then drafting as many first basemen as your bench will allow before ever selecting another shortstop. The goal, rather, is to set up one master list of all the players in the league. With this master list, you will select your top-rated player as long as he is available and you have an open roster spot.

Until you change the rankings, they will default to our predetermined order. If you are happy with that order, you do not need to re-rank players.

Also, please remember that you do not need to rank all of the players. Anyone left unranked will be added to the end of your rank list according to the default rankings. So, if you rank only 20 players -- and most managers rank at least this many -- player 21 automatically defaults to the best player left based on our default rankings, player 22 is the second best, etc.

New: You can use our new drag and drop feature to move players into your pre-ranking list. Click on a player's name and hold down the mouse button. Once highlighted, you will be able to drag that player into your pre-rankings.
So it seems everyone should rank at least 26 players, but it doesn't matter much.

For those of you who don't know much about baseball, just pick some of the stars from the teams in your area.

Can do Mulder.

Ranking your players

Yahoo pre-ranks all the players that could possibly play in the Major leagues this year.... They are ranked from #1 all the way 1000 by default for you. Therefore, you are not required in any way to rank your own players. You can let Yahoo pick the players for you based on their own ranking system. In general it is very good, and I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't regularlly follow baseball.

Unforunately there are some shortcomming with the Yahoo pre-rankings. It based on how the players performed in Major leagues last year so for instance... Kaz Matsui (NYM) who played in Japan last year has a very low rank (788.) Him, other rookies, and players who were injured for a good part of last season (ie: Derrek Jeter) can be very valueable to your team, but may have a low pre-rank because they didn't play the 162 games like everyone else, and thats why Pre-ranking could be very valueable.

When on the league's homepage you can click on the my team link to view your draft order edit pre-draft player rankings link.

There you have the abilitiy to view ALL the players available for you to draft. You can change the order that you would prefer to your players to be drafted in, in addition you can also choose to exlude certain players from being eligible to be drafted to your team.

When pre-ranking you do not need pre-rank every player in the draft. Any player added to the My Player list will receive top priority when the draft comenses. The draft will select players in the order you have set them from the my player list until they have all been taken. At that time Yahoo will continue selecting players for you based on the best available players in their Yahoo pre-selected rank.

Positions on your roster
Your roster can hold 23 players.
The positions are
Offense
Catcher, 1st Base, 2nd Base, Shortstop, 3rd base, INF (any player who can play in the infield), Outfield, Outfield, Outfield, and UTL (any player that is elibible for an offesnive position)

Pitching
3 Starting Pitchers (SP)
2 Relief Pitchers (RP)
3 Pitchers (these positions can be either Starting or Relief Pitchers)

Bench & Disabled List
You also have 5 bench positions. Bench positions can be used by any player on your team. When a player is on the bench, he will not score points for your team.
The Disabled List is are 2 extra positions on your roster that you can place an injured player on. When you place an injured player on the DL on your roster, it frees up a bench position so you can add a player to fill in while he out injured.

Scoring
Your batters can score points for hits, Runs, HomeRuns, Stolen bases, batting average, OPS (on base %+Slugging percentage)

Your pitchers can score points for Inning Pitched, Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP (walks+hits divided by Innings pithced)

Each week you play a new opponent (head to head) whomever does the best in each catergory gets a point, whomever has the most points wins.

The End :)
