I just disconnected my home computer from the internet. Whenever I search my hard drive for a file or anything I get this message that results in the search starting over at that time.

Microsoft .NET Passport Internet Connection Error

I did have MSN Messenger and the passports for that, but if I am not trying to access those, why would it be wanting to access the internet? Could it be that it is a virus and is reporting to someone/something on the web my business? Am I being spied on? I have ran my Shredder/Ad-Aware & Spybot and my system is totally clean at this point. How do I stop it?

Thank you!

You can try to remove Messenger and then reinstall it

Close down Messenger

Then click the start button, then click Run and type

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.

Then test . If it works you can try to reinstall Messenger again.

I have gotten rid of the Microsoft .NET Passport message, but now when I do a search on my system I get a message "Trying to connect". I don't have anything that is supposed to be connecting to the internet so I am confused.

Any one have any ideas?

Thanks!
