Trouble installing Win 7 Pro 64 bit on 32 bit

762 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  DaveA
It's a Acer Veriton X4630G. Core i-5 . Win 7 Pro 32 bit. 64 bit capable .

I have the product key and the 64 bit iso image but I everytime I attempt to boot it I get the error 'The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running' . Like I said I've checked to make sure it is 64 bit compatible so I don't really know what the problem is. Right now my system is virtually at factory reset 32 bit Windows 7 Pro.

Did you create a bootable disc with that Windows 7 64-bit ISO image?
If you did, and if the disc drive is set first in the boot order in the BIOS, you should see a Press any key to boot from CD or DVD command when you boot from it.

If you're trying to "upgrade" from Windows 7 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit, you can't do that.
You need to do a "clean" install of Windows 7 64-bit.

What's the exact serial number and SNID number on your Acer Veriton X4630G?

Note: It has full driver support Windows 7 64-bit.

Where did you get this copy of Windows 7?
