I bought a new Gateway 5200XL (specs listed below) and loaded GTA Vice City on it with no problems. I was able to play it for 2 or 3 days. Today, I put the "play" disc in and nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times, but with the same result. What gives? Why has my brand new computer decided it no longer wants to play or install GTA? :( Thanks!

OS: Windows XP
Processor: Pentium 4 530 (3GHz)
Memory: 512MB DDR SDRAM PC3200 (400MHz), dual channel
Hard drive: 200GB Serial ATA100 7200rpm

I don't know about Norton internet security, and I use Norton Utilities 2003..

It's another guess, but Vice City could be waiting for internet rights. For whatever reason I don't know.. And if norton doesn't know what to do the game may lock and or close...

It's only a guess, as I had played NFS Underground 2 for weeks and after an update of something.. It would stop at a black screen, I found out that it was waiting for my Zone Alarm (fire wall) to allow or deny internet access..

One simple request for internet stoped the whole game from loading..

So Just look through your security and see if anything is listed for Vice City..

I know it would be a hassle but you could try removing norton and test the game.... :p I wouldn't go that far unless I was about to toss the computer. :D
