Everytime i start windows i have my usual packed tool bar with we icons and i want them out of there.
I have everything set to hide when inactive but they are still there! Is there a way to move them away untill i want them back again?

Right click on an empty area of the taskbar,on the resulting menu, scroll up to "toolbars",move over to the next menu and scroll down to "quick launch"and uncheck it.All of those icons will dissapear and if you want them back, just recheck
"quick launch"

Since you refer to hiding when inactive I have to guess you are referring to the system tray on the bottom right of your terminal.

You might want to get rid of as many of these as possible. They all represent processes that are running on your machine. Using memory, making the boot time longer and generally represent overhead.

You can start the programs when needed from the desktop or quickstart area (in task bar).

If you do want to get rid of as many as possible, here is a start. Right click any system tray icon and go to options. Look for start when windows starts or any wording along those lines. Uncheck that entry and click OKAY. Your firewall and antivirus should stay in the tray.

Instead of setting the icons to 'hide when inactive' set them to 'Always hide'. If you need to see them for something, just click the arrow. If there are ones you want to see all the time... set to 'always show'. If you set your icons to 'hide when inactive' and the program is running in the background the icon will remain visible. HTH
