I just got a new Sony K13 notebook with Windows XP Home and now when I boot up it takes forever for the icons in the system tray to appear. When they finally appear I cant see the icons for sounds and power although I have them set to appear. What can be the problem as after I installed every program I restarted to make sure that that program wasnt causing the problem. This happened before to me and I had to reinstall everything on my computer which really wasnt that big of a deal since I just got it.

Try checking your startup folder to see if there is anything you don't need to start on startup

Now it seems to be fine. Very wierd but Ill post again if this problem continues to occur.

Well the problem is back. It seems like it does it whenever it feels like it.

what is forever to boot up 2-3 minutes or longer or 30 sec to a minute?

A couple minutes before the icons even start to appear. Then the sound and power icons are missing anyway along with some other ones that came up when I first got my pc. The only ones I can see are the ones that have been added from programs that I installed. Also I can see ones that are for the 2 network connections that are not attached.
