Hi there, On an XP, I merely opened a web page and all of a sudden System Security 2009 downloaded itself onto the computer - it gave me no option. I was able to remove it (I thought) by finding it and renaming it while in safe mode, then deleting it. I put on AVG and ran a scan. Ran cclean and mvregclean. The computer is somewhat usable now, but has several problems:

It's slow, previously ran quite well.
Can't run IE; can't reinstall it, have to use the MSN page.
Can't run MalwareBytes. Can get it installed, but when I do a scan, it shuts it off.
Unable to run any spyware type program such as Spybot.
It won't let me into regedit to manually delete the virus.
It keeps giving me a dialog box that says I don't have the necessary privileges to run this app (on IE, Malwarebytes, Spybot, regedit, etc - anything that might take it out).

Any suggestions other than reformatting the hard drive would be greatly appreciated!
