The System Restore functionality on my Windows ME no longer works.

Not sure if I have multiple problems or they are all generated by the same problem.

I have read something in the posts about System Restore not functioning on points created after September 8, 2001, but yet I have used System Restore since then.

But in another thread here I also read about drivers which shut off the restore functionality, and I did download an HP printer driver that I needed for a Deskjet 1000.

I discovered that I had lost System Restore when I started getting a "sys.reg" error when booting up (still getting that error msg on startup).

I thought I could fix the sys.reg problem by restoring an earlier restore point. But the restore failed. When I returned to my restore function all the restore points were gone. I am no longer able to generate any restore points.

I know the sys.reg problem is begging for attention, but I think I'd feel more comfortable if I could get System Restore up and running before I tackle my adware problem.

Don't know if this additional problem is related, but it seems that now when I do Run, Documents my recently open files are no longer there.

Any insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

The search didn't turn up anything. The sys.reg I think is something left over in my registery caused by some adware I believe. That problem I want to present in a separate thread.
