OS Windows XP Pro - I am on a network where I work, every time I have a problem with my computer, the tech guys blow my computer away and reinstall OS, leaving me in tears with hours of work before getting back to productivity.

Is there a backup program that I can load on my work computer that would allow me to backup my personal settings, downloaded programs, bookmarks, emails, desktop settings and short cuts, that would not interfere with the networks backup program (Ghost)?

In other words is there a way that I can get myself back to where I was before they blew everything away?

Chances are you're not going to be able to install your own software on your machine. Do you have access to a network drive where you can store some files? If so, I would just copy what need to the network drive.

I am not sure if this would do what I need. It says you can backup files and directories, but what about personal settings, macros, shortcuts etc: I have been looking at Acronis True Image 10 Home - know anything about it?

Our IT dept is a former School Counseler. Does that give you a clue, sometimes I think I know more about the software than he does. The way things are set up is all of our files are stored on the server, and they are suppose to do a backup every night, which seems to be working, but the last time they had imaged my machine was 8 months ago, just after installing new desktops, so there was nothing personal on there. I want to be able to restore all my personal settings, macros, bookmarks, emails etc when they are done reinstalling the OS.
