Everytime I start my computer an error message pops up that the svchost.exe can not be found.
I had an virus and norton removed the file.
Subsequently the help program/file will not run.
How can I fix this problem.

You probably have two different issues. The "svchost.exe" that your antivirus removed would not have been the required windows file. You are seeing a registry startup location for the malware file that needs to be edited. We can usually do this using HijackThis.

Post a scanlog. Just download the application to a permanent folder, do a system scan and save the log file. Then copy/paste that to a reply.

The help file problem is likely a separate one. Give some details on that. What are you seeing when you try to access it?

Also run eventvwr.msc and look at both the Systems and Applications logs for associated errors. Post any recent ones by double clicking and using the double-paper copy icon to copy the description to the clipboard for pasting.

Also, try the Help Center fix on Doub Knox's site. Select WinXP fixes, then find the "Fix Windows® XP Help" fix there and follow instructions:
