All I have now is BulletProofSoft Adware/Spyware Remover and Ad aware, and I'm pretty sure they're not getting everything. What else is good that's out there, whether it's free or not.

I certainly would not pay for a utility to remove or protect against spyware....usually the "pay for" applications are not much good anyway.
Both Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy are free and there is nothing better than using both these programs on your computer.

Two more "freebies" that we recomend here are:
SpywareBlaster v 3.0 and SpywareGuard v2.2, to prevent Active-X drive-by installations, as well as provide real-time browser hijacking protection: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/index.html

IE-SPYAD, a registry file that adds a long list of known "sites" to the Restricted Sites of your Internet Explorer: http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm

Hi gtaristguy23,
There are quite a few good programs available but none of them can get everything all of the time. The key to using these programs is in keeping them up to date.
I use AdAware on a regular basis and I check for updates before every use.

I also use AVG 7,and there is a free version here: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

Spybot Search & Destroy is another free program that does a good job and can be found here:http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download

Another thing you can do is an online system scan from here: http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Also a good firewall is an absolute necessity,I use ZoneAlarm pro and a free version can be found here: http://www.uant.net/firewall/zonealarmguide.html

Keep in mind that you need to update any program on a regular basis to get the latest virus definitions,as there are more virii, trojans, worms ect. produced every day

I'm sure other people in this site will have more to say on this subject,so stay tuned.
