Suddenly zip drive not recognized

Im running win 98 on machine that came with internal ide zip drive. Suddenly I get the message that the drive is not accessable. I have checked drive letter, checked the system device manager which says its working correctly and checked for loose cables. Nothing works. I know its not the disks as ive tried several including a friends disks that were working fine on her computer.

Any ideas what is wrong here?
