Hey guys, i've got windows 8 and yesterday it tried to update. It took a while, about 45 minutes, and then it cut to the "we couldnt complete the updates undoing changes dont turn off your computer" screen. Its been like that ever since, and that was at 1pm yesterday. The laptop did die 4hrs in, but even after turning it back on its still the same screen. :^( the computer was wiped for me not even 4 days ago.

I had someone say this happened to them and they said its a harddrive problem, and they were 90% sure its now a giant paperweight. And i had someone else eay that it happened to them and they never got it to work again and i really hope thats not the case because then i'm out a computer!!!!! Please help!!

What do you mean by "wiped"??

Who did this for you?

Was that done AFTER the failed update in hopes it would solve the problem?

Have you tried restoring the pc using the factory recovery partition?

Wiped as in everything removed from the computer. i dont know where he got it done at.
It was before.
I cant seem to access my advanced startup screen.

I took out my battery for a bit and put it back in and it worked for a while, but now its doing it again and that doesnt fix it.
So when you tap f8 or DEL rapidly at startup, u get no menu at all??

I ended up getting my startup menu, but going into safe mode doesnt fix it. I didnt have anything really important on the pc so im thinkingi might just reset it.

It took a while for me to get the menu though. Maybe im just dumb lmao
If that's the case, doing a "factory reset" may be the best option

Not hardly the timing for the button has to be darn near impeccable to get it to launch. :)

Should i be fully cleaning it or just removing the files? I see that it says to fully clean if im recycling the pc, but might that be the better option? I don't care if it takes longer.
What's the options you're given?

Yes, I would do a full reset and delete all personal data as if you were giving it away or selling it.
