Stubborn Hijacker

Hello. I'm new. Welcome to me! I have searched the forums and have found problems similar to mine, but not exact, so I'm starting a new thread. I have both Ad-aware and Spy-bot on my computer, and they have consistently caught and eliminated browser hijackers before. However, now, I have a particularly stubborn one which refuses to be removed. It has completely disabled Internet Explorer causing it to open a search page, but it is unable to progress from that page. If I type in another web address or even if I attempt to search something, it gives me an error message saying that Explorer could not open the search or that it could not find the server. I know that I am connected to the Internet, as NETSCAPE works fine. Both Ad-aware and Spy-bot find the hijacker and say that they are eliminating it. However, when I re-open the browser (even after doing a re-boot), the problem persists. Then, if I run the spy-ware applications again, they find the same thing again. Both programs are current. Why are they not removing it? I even tried a registry cleaner, but that had no effect. Any one have any suggestions for another program or procedure which I can try? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try booting into safemode & run adaware & spybot.
