A friend of mine had a PC built for around $400, AMD Atholon 2600 I believe, but that's all I know on the details. He told that when he picks up the phone the PC starts! Does anyone out there ever heard of this! He asked me what could be causing this, the only thing I could think of was some kind of setting in his dial-up settings or that maybe his PC is in sleep mode and that the modem is starting up when he picks up the phone. Thanks.

I think he needs to be more specific... For example, what modem does he have? what state is the computer in?

The reason I ask is that the modem has (should not) no connection whatsoever to the power of a PC.
