I'm running Home XP. When I click on START then click on all programs then click on Startup it displays the following:
Adobe Gama Loader.exe
Camio Viewer 2000
Microsoft Office
Do I need these programs in my startup?

Hi elkrott, Welcome to TSG !!
No you do not!! Go to Start, run type in msconfig
Then hit OK
Click on startup tab at top Uncheck those. You also can go here to see what others are checked and if you need them.

Elkrott:

Click the link below and read the article, "MSCONFIG - Reduce Your Startup Load". The site is geared towards 95 and 98 users, but the information in the article also applies to XP.

With XP, you have 2 ways of reducing your startup load and shortening the boot time:

Disabling as many items as possible in the MSCONFIG startup tab by unchecking them.

Changing as many items as possible in the SERVICES list from "automatic" to "manual" or "disabled".
