Every time I start up, I get this error

"runner file name 'compaq connections.exe' lacks a '-' in the app id sepperator"
and my only option is to hit okay.
Any ideas how to fix it?
I'm running windows xp home sp2 and i tried going start>run>compaq connections.exe and nothing hapened.

Have a look in MSConfig/startup, and see if there are any entries for Compaq Connections If so, disable them. I believe what you are seeing is an autocheck for updates, put in by Compaq

Okay I disabled it and I dont get the message anymore, but dont I need the thing I disabled?

If you don't find any further problems after disabling it, you probably don't need it. Unless you know what it is and use it regularly.
