Just when you thought you got rid of me....I'm baa-aack.
I just erased my hard drive and started over from scratch a few days ago. I have added minimal software but everything is (was) running smoothly. I was thrilled.
Now, I used to leave the computer on standby quite a bit because I get on it so frequently. This included overnights. The last two nights in a row I left it on standby and in the morning it wouldn't come back up. This morning I got this message: "The last few times your computer went on standby it stopped responding. Would you like to prevent it from going on standby in the future?" I clicked NO. I am just wondering if anyone knows what causes it to stop responding and if there is something I can do to fix that. Perhaps it's a setting I'm not aware of. I did see a setting in power management about turning off the monitor and hard drive after so many minutes of inactivity....I didn't change them because it seems to me if I'm in standby mode, the computer shouldn't be counting that time as inactivity???? I dunno.
Thanks!
Erika

I used to have that issue too. I'm not sure what I did to correct it, but it probably involved not having something running that was causing a conflict, rather like you would get if you tried running defrag or scandisk with something still writing to the disk in the background.

There is a troubleshooter here that you can install which might help identify it. Be sure to read the whole article and uninstall it when done.
